Chandigarh Administration has been selected and awarded as One of the Best Performers based on electronic tendering carried out in the year April 2016 - Mar 2017 under the Special Category amongst various States, UTs , Central Ministries and PSUs across the country. The award was received by Mr Harish Nayar, IAS, Special Secretary Finance, Mr Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer-cum-Special Secretary (Engineering) and Mr Girish Pant, Scientist-D from NIC on 4th January 2018 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi during the inaugural session of the National Workshop on the Central Procurement Portal.  The award was presented by Mr Ajay Sawhney, IAS Secretary MeitY. There were around 400 delegates from different States, UTs , Central Ministries and PSUs. Government  eProcurement System (GePNIC) is in operation in UT Chandigarh since April 2010 and so far 49199 Tenders  worth 10715 crores have been processed using GePNIC. Chandigarh Administration had initially set threshold  value of tenders having value of more than Rs 5 lakhs, however, engineering department and municipal corporation are floating all tenders having value greater than Rs 50000 through GepNIC. All the departments under Chandigarh Administration are using  GepNIC for electronically processing of their tenders. Implementation of GepNIC has resulted in the reduction in the cycle time of procurement and brought in transparency in  the procurement process. There is also an increase in  number of participating bidders as a result of which bids are received  at competitive rates. NIC UT Chandigarh is also providing support to all Central Government   departments located  in Chandigarh for Central Public  Procurement  portal.
