Government eProcurement System (GePNIC) is in operation in UT Chandigarh since April 2010 and so far 49199 Tenders worth 10715 crores have been processed using GePNIC. Chandigarh Administration had initially set threshold value of tenders having value of more than Rs 5 lakhs, however, engineering department and municipal corporation are floating all tenders having value greater than Rs 50000 through GepNIC. All the departments under Chandigarh Administration are using GepNIC for electronically processing of their tenders. Implementation of GepNIC has resulted in the reduction in the cycle time of procurement and brought in transparency in the procurement process. There is also an increase in number of participating bidders as a result of which bids are received at competitive rates. NIC UT Chandigarh is also providing support to all Central Government departments located in Chandigarh for Central Public Procurement portal.
