Comprehensive Web Presence State Himachal Pradesh Award

Three Himachal Pradesh Government projects have won Web Ratna Gold Icon Awards under different categories. All the three awards are for NIC initiatives for the State Government in the field of Information Technology. These Awards are an initiative to acknowledge the exemplary initiatives in eGovernance using the medium of World Wide Web

These awards were conferred by Thiru A. Raja, the Honorable Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology, in the presence of Shri Sachin Pilot, the Honorable Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology at an exclusive award presentation ceremony held on 19th April 2010 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

Category 6 Comprehensive Web Presence of State
Sh. B.K. Aggarwal, Resident Commissioner and the then Principal Secretary, Information Technology to the Government of Himachal Pradesh received the Award along with the NIC Himachal Team led by Sh. Rajesh Bahadur, SIO. The other members of the team present during the Awards ceremony were Sh. Ajay Singh Chahal, Technical Director, Sh. Sanjay Sharma, Principal Systems Analyst and Sh. Vijay Kumar Gupta, Principal Systems Analyst. The web portal of the Himachal Pradesh at http://himachal.nic.in has always been at the fore front in terms of providing information and services to the citizens through the Internet. It is an endeavour by different departments to disseminate information and deliver services to citizens, businesses, employees, and special interest groups. It is an outstanding attempt to integrate various processes of different departments in web space.

Category 1 Citizen Centric Services
Sh. O.C. Thakur, Inspector General, CID HP Police and Sh. Ashok Sharma, Inspector General, Southern Range, HP Police represented the Police Department along with Sh. Rajesh Bahadur, SIO, NIC Himachal and Sh. Praveen Sharma, Assistant Programmer. The Himachal Pradesh Police portal at http://hppolice.nic.in has been set up to facilitate interaction between the public and police, providing the citizens a platform to interact with police effectively and efficiently. HIMPOL provides facilities like online payment of traffic Challans, online complaint or information to the Police Stations and FIR. The portal has lots of other information for the public and its officers. The website has helped the public in becoming more self assertive and the police more responsible.

Category 8 NIC Coordinator of the National Portal
Sh. Ajay Singh Chahal, Technical Director received the award for NIC Coordinator of National Portal for ensuring an effective and sustained contribution of information on the National Portal of India.
