Haryana Tourism won the Best State for IT & Using Various Technology Methods in the Domestic Tourism category of the 8th Today’s Traveller Annual Awards-2014 held at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi on 16th September, 2014. Sh. Shripad Yesso Naik, Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism & Culture, Government of India, conferred the award to Haryana Tourism Corporation, as the Chief Guest of the function.

Expressing delight at the organisation being conferred the award, Smt. Sumita Misra, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism said, "It is a matter of honour to be lauded for our technological accomplishments at the 8th Today’s Traveller Awards that recognises and honours the outstanding performers in the corporate, hospitality, travel and entertainment industries. Haryana Tourism has made strenuous efforts to reach out to people with its user-friendly and interactive website developed as per the W3C Guidelines and offers online booking of rooms in all its Tourist Complexes."

In consonance with the rapid advances in technology, Haryana Tourism extends a facility to the customers to book rooms as per their choice using credit cards. The booking can also be cancelled online and the refund goes in the customer’s account automatically. The system has been integrated with SMS services for the ease of the customers. The online Booking system is developed by National Informatics, centre, Haryana.

Smt. Misra further added that the financials of all Haryana Tourism Tourist Complexes have improved remarkably as compared to the period when the system was not online. A record online ticket booking business was generated during the 28th Surajkund International Crafts Mela held at Surajkund, Faridabad from 1st to 15th February, 2014. "Interestingly, many state tourism departments are also seeking inspiration from our online model and following suit," said Smt. Misra.

Moreover, Haryana Tourism has made an agreement and registered with 30 Travel Trade operators and has tied-up with travel portals such as tripadvisor.com, ixigo.com & holidayiq.com for review/rating of its Tourist Complexes for feedback on its facilities. Online booking of Haryana Tourism’s Tourist Complexes has also been implemented through popular hotel booking portals like cleartrip.com, goibibo.com and travelguru.com.
