Bureau of Immigration (BOI) and National Informatics Centre (NIC) jointly organized 3rd State Level IVFRT Conference at CIAL Conference Hall, Cochin International Airport, Kochi on 4th March, 2014. Technical and Administrative sessions on Centralized Visa Issuance system (c-FRO/CFORM/SFORM), Prior Reference Category (PRC) & UCF, TVoA & GLP, LOC/APIS, NDAL and Indian Citizenship were conducted.

Sh. K. Sethuramam, IPS, FRRO, Cochin welcomed the participants explaining the significance of the project and need of improvements in immigration and visa services. Sh. Raju P V, PSA, NIC & IVFRT State Coordinator gave the overview and implementation status of IVFRT Project in Kerala.

In the theme Address, Dr. K Santhanaraman, Dy. Director General & State Informatics Officer NIC Kerala State said that need of eGovernance solutions which exchange information is the requirement of time and NIC is giving all support and services to provide such solutions like IVFRT to all concerned government departments. In his presidential address Sh. M R Ajithkumar, IPS, IGP, Ernakulam Range pointed out the drawbacks of ICT implementation in various sectors and pressed the need of proper order and monitoring to check the shortcomings. Supporting ICT tools like IVFRT he continued to say that offices using ICT tools are helping their officials on easing their work and by which improving their efficiency.

Sh. A. Hemachandran IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) delivered the inaugural address. He stated that though there were no major war since 1971, threat to our country is still there. The delay in creating and implementing surveillance systems must be checked and corrected. He continued to say that the contribution of each individual towards our national security is more than a requirement now. He also assured all help to IVFRT Project of national importance which is committed to develop and implement a secure and Integrated Service delivery framework that facilitates legitimate travelers while strengthening national security.

The conference got felicitated by Sh. ACK Nair, Airport Director CIAL, Sh. P K Basheer Ahamad, SIO Lakshadweep UT. Sh. Vinodkumar TR, PSA & NIC IVFRT Thiruvananthapuram gave away the vote of thanks.

About one twenty five participants from Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRROs)/ Foreigners Registration Offices (FROs/ O/o District Police Chief), Immigration Check Post, State Home Department, District Informatics Officers and NIC IVFRT participated in the conference.

The post-lunch session was presided by Dr. K. Santhanaraman, DDG & SIO Kerala and Sh. Jojo. T A., PSA & Sh. SunilKumar A.R., SSA, NIC KERALA IVFRT Team members, handled technical sessions on National Database of Arms Licensing Module (NDAL) and Indian Citizenship Module. The District Informatics Officers of NIC, Kerala were participated in this session and extended full co-operation for the implementation of these modules in district colloctorates.
