GePNIC implementation in MCL won e-Odisha Jury award for Best e-Governance project in Government to Business (G2B) category

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, a mini ratna PSU under the Coal India Limited has bagged the prestigious Jury award for best e-Governance project in Government to Business (G2B) category for the accredited e-Procurement System in a mega ICT event e-Odisha held at Bhubaneswar on 24th Jan 2014. The award was accorded by Shri Pratap Keshari Deo, Minister of State (Independent), Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Employment and Technical Education and Training and Information Technology, Govt. of Odisha in a grand function arranged at Swosti Premium Hotel.

Prior to the award function while addressing the seminar on this occasion Shri A. N. Sahay, CMD MCL highlighted the IT initiatives taken in MCL, particularly, e-Procurement, COALNET, OITDS, GPS based vehicle tracking system and integration of weigh bridges with COALNET etc. in his key note address. He also participated in a panel discussion held by a group of secretaries of Govt. of Odisha on e-Governance and shared his views on the context.

MCL was the first PSU to come under GePNIC umbrella in the year 2009. They are also the first PSU to introduce a paperless evaluation system through e-procurement by asking documents only from the L1 bidder after financial evaluation. In addition, they are the first PSU to integrate the online refund of EMD to the contractors. Till date 9662 no of tenders have been processed worth about 9460 crores.

eOdisha award is the fifth award being received by GePNIC implemented by  MCL. Earlier, MCL had received eIndia, CII, CIL and eWorld awards for GePNIC. 

On behalf of CMD, MCL the award was received by Shri S.K.Bhanja, Dy. G.M, Shri O.P.Mishra, Chief Manager (Civil) of e-Procurement department and Major S. K.  Pohan of Vigilance Department. 

The event was participated by dignitaries from various Government departments of Odisha  from secretariat to block level, all major Industries, and Business Houses from India and abroad.

DDG & SIO Odisha, Shri S.K. Panda was one of the key speakers in eOdisha 2014. Delivering on the topic “eGovernance in Odisha - Services to the last mile” he highlighted the achievement of GePNIC.
