In a major step towards facilitating & strengthening  the farmers with the latest weather forecast and agro advisories, Haryana Chief Minister Sh Bhupinder Singh Hooda launched e-Mausam web portal http://emausamhau.gov.in developed by NIC-Hayana state Center, District Unit Hisar in coordination with CCS Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar .

Honorable Chief Minister showed keen interest in dissemination of weather forecast and agro advisory through SMS by using NIC SMS gateway. During the event the Chief Minister also provided his mobile number in the web portal to get weather details via SMS. The SMS in Hindi language detailing the event was disseminated to all the participants including the Chief Minister instantly.

While speaking on the occasion, Mr Hooda said that as he himself belongs to a farmer family, he very well understands the significance of weather forecast and its impact on agriculture. Mr. Hooda directed the concerned officials to get maximum number of farmers registered on the web portal so that they could be benefitted with these services.

The web portal is bilingual (English/Hindi) facilitating the farmers and scientist of farmer’s community in weather forecast and agro advisories using Web and SMS based alerts through NIC SMS gateway, thereby providing more lead time to the farming community to minimise farm losses due to abnormal weather conditions. Besides, it would also help in increasing farm productivity with efficient management of day-to-day farm operations.

More than 75,000 farmers of the State have so far been registered on the portal and getting free weather and agro advisory SMS services on the registered mobile. The farmers can online register themselves on the web portal either through internet or through Krishi Vigyan Kendras and local Agriculture Officers by submitting required details.  The registered farmers will receive free weather related SMS in Hindi language. The portal is also equipped with the analytical web based dash-board and weather bulletin services.

Agriculture Minister, Mr. Paramvir Singh, PSCM, Addl. Chief Secretary, Revenue, Cooperation,  Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Finance, Chairman, Haryana Kisan Aayog, Dr. R.S. Paroda, Vice-Chancellor, CCS HAU, Dr. K.S Khokhar, Director IMD Chandigarh, Director Research CCSHAU Dr. S.S Siwach, HoD Agricultural Meteorology & Mr M P Kulshreshtha, DIO NIC-Hisar, Mr Shusheel Kumar and Mr Pardeep Kaushal both Scientist “E”, NIC-HrSC  were also present on this occasion.
