A two day sensitization workshop on GePNIC was conducted on 24th and 25th June 2013 at Indian Institute of Coal Management, Ranchi for officers of Coal India Limited (a Maharatna Company) and its subsidiary companies.

Inspired by the success of GePNIC rollout in Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, CIL has taken a decision to rollout the same in all its subsidiaries to reap in the benefits of e-procurement. Senior officers from Materials Management of all subsidiaries like SECL, BCCL, NCL, MCL, WCL, CMPDI and CIL Hq attended the workshop.

The inaugural address was delivered by Shri G.K.Singh, GM(MM), CCL, Shri K.K.Pandey, GM(Systems), CIL, Shri Adarsh Baijal, ED, IICM and Shri M. Manivannan,  STD, NIC Chennai.

 Thereafter, Shri Manivannan gave the presentation on the journey of GePNIC since 2007, different modules, security aspects, MIS features etc. Shri Tapan Prakash Ray, TD, NIC Odisha demonstrated a live flow of the application.

 The sessions were highly interactive with participants showing keen interest on the subject. The live presentation was followed by lab session in which some officers having DSC created and published the tenders using the CIL demo site http://coaldemotenders.nic.in.

 On day two demonstration was given on bid submission, preparation of  BOQ and Technical Parameter Sheet, Bid Opening, Uploading of summary documents , Bid Evaluation and Award of Contract.

 Shri Biswajeet Patnaik of MCL and Dr Pravat Kumar of CMPDI shared their experience of using MCL eProcurement portal. Dr Pravat explained how CMPDI has been able to process turnkey contracts using GePNIC after suitably modifying BOQ and TPS. In the afternoon session, Axis Bank team gave a presentation on integration of payment gateway for collection of tender fee and EMD through net banking, NEFT and RTGS.

 Shri T.K.Mishra, Chief Manager (MM), CIL and Shri P.C. Mishra, DGM (Systems) IICM Ranchi coordinated the workshop from CIL side. It may be recalled that MCL has completed 3 years of successful run of GePNIC and ECL has just rolled out the same for works and services contracts.

 In the concluding session, the participants were advised to compile and send their feedback on the GePNIC software to Coal India Process Advisory Committee for any possible customization.
