A two-days State level Transport Conference on Vahan and Sarathi was held at Shimla on 4th and 5th of March 2013. Around 70 officers from the Department of Transport, State Administration, NIC District Centres and Police participated. The Conference was held in the Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration, Fairlawns, Shimla.

Dr. Mahesh Chandra, DDG NIC participated in the inaugural session through Video Conferencing and assured full support to the State Transport Department in providing suitable eGovernance solutions.
 
Sh. Ajay Mittal IAS, Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh presided over the Conference and encouraged the Transport department officials to make use of the technology in providing better services to citizens and transporters of the State. He praised the efforts of NIC at National and State level in providing eGovernance solutions in the Transport sector.  Sh. Ritesh Chauhan, IAS Director Transport was actively involved in organizing the Conference and raised a number of issues related to existing SW.

Two teams of 10 NIC officers led by Dr. A Mohan Rao, DDG and Dr. Gautam Ghosh, DDG gave presentations on the current SW solutions being added in the Transport department applications with the objective to increase the utilization of existing databases  and to provide citizens and transporters with online interfaces. These online interfaces will enable the citizens and transporters to conduct transactions with the Transport Department through Internet.

Dr. Saurabh Gupta, SIO NIC Himachal Pradesh welcomed the participants and participated in the deliberations with the Departmental officials in making the best utilization of existing SW solutions.  The Pathakar SW issues were discussed during the two days conference. Sh. Lalit Kapoor, TD and Sh. Bhupinder Pathak, DIO Kangra-Transport Coordinator  interacted with the participants to resolve other pending issues.
