Assam CM launches mVahan and Learner License from Home Applications
Guwahati, September 03, 2021: The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma today launched two online citizen-centric applications in the Transport Sector – the Learner License from Home Application and the mVahan fitness testing mobile app. The Hon’ble Transport Minister Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary was present in the inauguration.
The mVahan app enables fitness testing of vehicles in any District Transport Office of the State. The App makes it mandatory for the Motor Vehicle Inspector to upload photographs of the vehicles along with the Registration Plate so that fitness testing cannot be done without the presence of the vehicle. mVahan also uses geofencing technology to restrict the fitness testing within 500 m from any designated testing spot.
The Learner License from Home marks Assam’s foray into Aadhaar-Authenticated contactless services. The Chief Minister has taken the initiative to implement a bunch of about 20 such contactless services in the Transport Sector through NIC in the course of the next six months.
Dr Suchitra Pyarelal, Deputy Director General & State Informatics Officer, NIC Assam, was felicitated in the function. Shri Rubaiyat-ul Ali, Senior Technical Director & HoD NIC Transport Support Division gave a presentation on the scope and convenience of the contactless services. Shri Bibhujjal Kumar Bhattacharjya, Technical Director, NIC and other members of the NIC working team was present on the occasion.
