Honourable Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha launches eVidhan Public Portal
Sh. Brij Bihari Lal Butail, Honourable Speaker, Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha launched the public portal of the eVidhan project on 12th September 2014 in the HP Assembly Library Hall. He also inaugurated the eVidhan IT Centre, set up in the HP Assembly. Earlier, the eVidhan Intra-portal was launched in August 2014 during the Assembly Session.
Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Butail informed a large gathering of media persons, technical and other officials that the public portal is meant to meet the information needs of the general public and media to keep them updated on the working of the Vidhan Sabha. He informed that the Vidhan Sabha is planning to digitize all records since its inception in 1952 so that information retrieval becomes easy and there will not be any risk of losing the important physical record to fire or other natural disasters.
He also felicitated the State level media persons and technical resources involved in the development, implementation and support of the eVidhan Project. The paperless functioning of the Vidhan Sabha will result in huge savings for the State exchequer and is an environment friendly initiative. Sh. Butail has made presentations of the eVidhan Project to the Honourable Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology and the Honourable Speaker of the Lok Sabha in New Delhi.
Sh. Dharmesh Kumar, Technical Director, NIC at Vidhan Sabha gave a presentation of the public portal to the media present during the ceremony. The public portal is available at http://evidhan.nic.in.
It is also planned to develop a constituency management software as part of eVidhan, which will help the members of the Legislative Assembly to mange their constituencies and monitor the progress of development works. The MLAs will be able to monitor the progress of various grievances and demands lodged by their constituents in an effective and transparent manner.
