The website of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Service Authority has been launched by Honourable Mr. Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh on 27th August 2014 in the presence of all Judges of the High Court. Speaking on the occasion, Honourable Chief Justice expressed the hope that the HP SLSA website will meet its objective of helping rural people, especially the school children who are quite IT savvy, to know about the legal assistance being provided in the State through HPSLSA.

Honourable Mr. Justice Sanjay Karol, Judge High Court of Himachal Pradesh-cum-Executive Chairman HP SLSA has provided the necessary advice and inputs to get the website developed for the benefit of the citizens.

A unique achievement of the inaugural function was that this event was attended by almost all Judicial officers of the State through Video Conferencing from 42 locations located at District, Sub-Division and Tehsil levels. These locations were connected on VC using MCUs of NIC, DIT and RD Department. Sh. Neeraj Goel, Technical Director NIC at HP High Court and Sh. Shailender Kaushal, NIC HP coordinated the VC arrangements.

The website contains important information for citizens who are unable to hire the services of lawyers for legal purposes. It gives list of schemes, district wise phone numbers, panel of advocates whose services could be availed by needy citizens for litigation or legal advice, information about lok adalats, legal aid counsels, para-legal volunteers, the projects undertaken by the HPSLSA, camps being organised, statistics of legal aid provided by HPSLSA etc. This year HPSLSA has provided legal aid to 12,285 people till July 2014.

The website has been designed and developed by NIC Himachal Pradesh State Centre. Sh. Sanjay Kumar, PSA and Sh. Sarvjeet Kumar, Scientific Officer worked in close coordination with Sh. Virender Singh, Member Secretary, HP SLSA to develop this website.
