Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Visakhapatnam joined GePNIC
Hindustan Shipyard Limited, a fully owned Govt of India Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence is located in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. HSL is nation’s premier ship building organisation catering to the needs of shipbuilding, ship repairs inclusive of sophisticated and state of art submarine retrofitting and construction of offshore structures.
In fact HSL was the first Defence PSU to approach National Informatics Centre (NIC) for the implementation of eProcurement System for tenders relating to procurement in various divisions of it. This initiation later was extended to other defence PSUs.
The journey started with a presentation of GePNIC by Shri S.K Panda, SIO Odisha along with Shri A.K Hota, TD, NIC BBSR in June 2011 to CMD, HSL Rear Admiral N.K Mishra and team.
After a series of meetings and follow ups, the Board of HSL decided to go for adoption of GePNIC.
As per the project planning Shri Tapan Prakash Ray, TD and Shri N. R Biswal, PSA from NIC, Odisha conducted a workshop on 17th January for about 60 officers of HSL in which a live demonstration of the GePNIC software was presented and queries from the users were answered.
After successful commissioning, the site of HSL (http ://eprocurehsl.gov.in) went live on 19th January with the publishing of two tenders.
Director Ship Building Cmdr. K. S. Subramanian, NM, IN (Retd) and Director Finance Shri Rakesh Mahajan published two pilot tenders in presence of all senior officers of HSL.
Shri Venugopal Rao, PSA from NIC, Odisha and Sk. H. Pasha, DIA from NIC, Visakhapatnam coordinated the event and extended the local support.
Mr. V K Praviraj, DGM Purchase and Mr. K.S Sudheer, Engineer Purchase coordinated the event from HSL side.
