With the broad objective of making available all the tenders of Government of India Ministries and Departments including Central Public Sector Undertakings for the public as well as bidders in a single portal, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has issued a circular on 30th November 2011 wherein NIC has been entrusted the responsibility of setting up the Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP).

The portal is accessible through the URL http: //eprocure.gov.in . It is mandatory for all the line departments of Central Government and their attached offices to publish all their tenders in the CPPP with effect from 1st January 2012 and for all the Central PSUs from 1st February 2012.

National Aluminum Company Limited (NALCO), a Navaratna PSU based in Odisha having the largest Alumina Complex in Asia approached NIC for   training on the CPPP to all their officers involved in the tender process. Accordingly, a Trainers’ training was organized by the eProcurement division of NIC Odisha in the training hall of NIC Bhubaneswar wherein 28 officers of NALCO actively participated.

A brief introduction was given on eProcurement and objective of CPPP followed by live demonstration of the tender creation and publishing using the portal. The sessions were highly interactive and all queries raised by participants were promptly answered. Shri A. K. Hota, TD, Shri T. P. Ray, TD & Shri N. R. Biswal, Scientist-D, actively coordinated the sessions.

Shri Debadutta Pattnaik, AGM(Systems) coordinated from NALCO.

Interacting with the participants, Shri S K Panda, SIO & Sr. Technical Director, NIC, Odisha wished that NALCO, with its inbuilt maturity level, should march ahead and go for e-Procurement rather than e-Publish.

As an immediate aftereffect of the training, NALCO has already published more than 50 tenders in the central portal.
