Rolling out of Student Form (S-Form) under IVFRT-MMP in Union Territory of Chandigarh

Foreign Students Information System (FSIS) under Immigration, Visa, Foreigners’ Registration & Tracking (IVFRT) Mission Mode Project was rolled out in Union Territory of Chandigarh on 26/07/2013 for online submission of Student Form (S Form) of foreign students by educational institutes to Foreigners Registration Office, Chandigarh. With rolling out of FSIS, Chandigarh (UT) has become IVFRT compliant where cFRO, C-Form for hotels and PRC modules under IVFRT-MMP have been already successfully implemented.

One day workshop was conducted in Multi Media Centre, Chandigarh Police Lines, Sector 26, Chandigarh (UT) for forty educational institutes in Chandigarh (UT) where foreign nationals are enrolled as students for various courses. The representatives of Panjab University, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Govt. Medical College, Govt. Dental College, various degree colleges and other private educational institutes attended the workshop on FSIS.

Sh. Anil Joshi, Dy. Superintendent of Police (CID), Chandigarh Police inaugurated the workshop and welcomed the participants from various educational institutes of Chandigarh (UT). Sh. Joshi gave a brief introduction to IVFRT project initiated by Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners Division), Govt. of India and the role of educational institutes in monitoring the activities of foreign students undergoing various courses in Chandigarh. He also directed the representatives of educational institutes to register within two weeks all foreign students studying in their educational institutions in union territory of Chandigarh and subsequent periodic updates of these foreign students using web based FSIS.

Sh. Raj Kumar Tickoo, TD & State Coordinator, IVFRT Project, Punjab & Chandigarh (UT) conducted technical sessions on detailed overview of IVFRT project, procedure for online registration of educational institutes with IVFRT system and various other features of FSIS module. The live demonstration of FSIS was given by Ms. Kirti Mahajan, Scientist ‘B’, IVFRT Project, Punjab.
