With the objective to allot the liquor shop licenses in a transparent manner and in the process bring in more revenue to the government exchequer, Excise Department, Government of Odisha is going to launch eAuction system recently. To this effect the government has issued new excise policy as well as notification highlighting the modalities of eAuction process.

To create awareness among the prospective bidders newspaper advertisements have been published to suitably join the massive plan prepared to train the bidders. The helpdesk of State Procurement Cell (SPC) with Toll Free numbers is operational and bidders have been registering for training on eAuction since last few days.

Training of bidders has started since 15th April 2013. SPC is also facilitating the bidders for issue of DSCs through private vendors.

The response from the bidders’ community has been overwhelming. They have been enthusiastically asking their doubts on eAuction during the training. Within first 3 days more than 600 bidders have been trained with the help of SPC and Excise officers. Due to the huge no of bidders turning up at the SPC, the training venue was shifted once to the Institute of Engineers Building   to accommodate larger no of participants.

Principal Secretary (Excise), Excise Commissioner and NIC officers has been overseeing the bidders’ training programme.
