Workshop on National Animal Disease Reporting System (NADRS) In Punjab

In Punjab, NADRS project is being implemented in 141 blocks across 22 districts and coordinated through State HQ of Animal Husbandry Department. In order to bring all the stakeholders at one platform from all the corners of the state including the service providers, a state level workshop was conducted on 22 March 2010 which was largely attended by officers from the department and NIC District Officials. The officials from Chandigarh and NIC Chandigarh also attended this workshop. The workshop was presided over by Deputy Director General Sh M Moni from NICHQ and Dr H S Sandha, Director Animal Husbandry Department Punjab.

 

In this workshop various issues related to the need of conducting this workshop, scope of the NADRS project being implemented, status of the project implementation in the state was informed to the participants by Mukesh K Ralli, Technical Director and State Project Coordinator. Sh Navneet Kukereja, STD and State Informatics Officer, Punjab informed projects being implemented in State especially in the sector of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and egovernance. He assured NIC Punjab support in the successful implementation of NADRS project. Sh M Moni, DDG, NICHQ informed participants about how the project was conceived and GOI views and expectation from the project besides deliberating upon the issues related to problems and opportunities in the project. Dr H S Sandha, Director Animal Husbandry, Punjab not only mentioned the benefits emerging from the project but also exhorted all the concerned officials to work in the best interest of the project. He ensured all around support to NIC Punjab for successful project implementation.

 

In the other sessions during this workshop, various modules like Scheme Monitoring, Disease Reporting, Block MIS, NADRS Portal and Animal Disease Diagnostic Labs workflow were presented in detail to the participants by the NICHQ team comprising of Smt Pratibha Lokhande, Technical Director, Smt Sameena Makhija, Technical Director and Sh Janadhan, PSA.

 

Since there were issues related to BSNL connectivity, hardware maintenance, the discussion with all the vendors and service providers viz BSNL, HCL and Uniline was conducted in a session. In this session the problems being faced by the field offices and lackadaisical attitude in providing services was also brought to the fore and a detailed discussion took place to provide a mechanism wherein the problems are looked not only immediately but in proper manner. The representatives of various companies were requested to accord highest priority to problem redressal and support in this project. The District Informatics Officers from Punjab also presented their views on the problems encountered and suggested ways to overcome as well as how to better communicate the problems in a simple manner.

 

The workshop ended on a positive note with thanks to the all the participants by the State Project coordinator, Punjab.
