Launch of Web based Merit cum Means Scholarship System for Ministry of Minority Affairs

Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs, Shri Salman Khurshid launched the ‘Student Module’ of the Online Scholarship Management System (OSMS) for Merit-cum-Means based scholarship scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs on 15th April 2011. Shri Vivek Mehrotra, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and other Senior Officers of the Ministry were present on the occasion. Using this facility the students can apply for Scholarship online from anywhere, anytime.

A web based system has been designed and developed by NIC-Tamilnadu State Centre as part of the e-Scholarship project in coordination with NIC HQ. The site can be accessed through URL http://momascholarship.gov.in.

It is a complete work flow system that handles scholarship applications from receipt of online application, processing at the State level and disbursement of the same to Minority students and it has been developed using Open source software tools.

The system is being implemented across the country.

Services offered to Students

Merit cum Means Scholarship - To provide financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to the Minority communities (Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist & Parsi)  for studying Professional courses.

- Facilitates the students to apply for scholarship online
- Configurable Workflow process  for each State  (being developed)
- Facility to enter the Courses and fees by Institutions and the approval by the State Directorate
- Facility for Students to view status of application
- eMail & SMS Alerts to Students after Registration and Scholarship disbursement
- Dash Board with Drill down facility for monitoring (to be developed)
