Workshop Organized on Safer Internet Day

Raipur, 10 February 2026: On the occasion of Safer Internet Day, a significant workshop was organized by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Chhattisgarh, under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. The event was held at Committee Room No. S-0-12, Mantralaya, Mahanadi Bhawan, Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur.

The theme of this year’s workshop was “Smart Tech, Safe Choices: Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI.” During the programme, experts emphasized the growing use of Artificial Intelligence and highlighted the importance of cybersecurity, data protection, and responsible digital behaviour in the evolving technological landscape.

The programme was addressed by Shri P. Rama Rao (ASIO), Shri Satyesh Sharma, Director (IT), Ms. Jyoti Sharma, Deputy Director (IT), from the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and Shri Ashish Jaiswal, Head SEMT, CHiPS, who shared their valuable insights on the subject.

Approximately 87 government officials from various departments participated in the workshop. Detailed deliberations were held on effective measures to safeguard citizens from cyber threats and to build a secure digital future under initiatives such as Digital India and Stay Safe Online.

Shri Devabrata Sarkar, Manager from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), laid special emphasis on securing digital transactions, preventing cyber fraud, and enhancing financial awareness.

The programme concluded with a collective pledge to enhance public awareness regarding internet safety and to promote responsible digital conduct.
