The National Conference on "Knowledge Organisation in Academic Libraries (KOAL), 2012 organized by Library Professionals Association was held at Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi on 29th September. It was organized with an objective to bring together experts from corporate industries, academia, R&D institutions and other user communities on a common platform to discuss and share their expertise and experiences.

Shri M. Moni Deputy Director General, in his Inaugural address stressed the development of Information service through Academic Libraries to Common Public, especially Farmers, in Rural India. He emphasized the promotion of Specialized Information centres (SICs) through online Portals.

Shri Moni also underlined the importance of Information Delivery Point for e-Governance Programme. Association of Academic Libraries (AAL) can may set up a Taskforce on "e-Governance: Role of AAL" for making e-Governance delivery more vibrant in the country.

Speaking to the audience which includes academicians, information managers, Librarians, IT professionals, Knowledge based professionals, and LIS research Scholars and Students,

Mr. Moni exhorted the Launch of a national KOAL TV Channel to provide services in local languages to Indian Citizen, besides start of a 4-Year B.Tech Course on Library & Information Science and Engineering; (LISE) to synergize Computer Science, Information Technology and Library Science; Recommendations to be sent to both UGC and AICTE.
