The state level workshop cum training programme on HORTNET Application for State Horticulture Mission (SHM) functionaries and District Informatics officers of NIC was held from 08-07-2013 to 09-07-2013 at NIC, Odisha State Centre, Bhubaneswar. The training was inaugurated by Sri Sanjeev Kumar Chadha, IFS, Director, Horticulture, Odisha. Smt. Jyoti Singhal, Under Secretary, national Horticulture Mission (NHM), Govt. of India has graced the occasion.

The training was organized by SHM in collaboration with NIC, OSC under the able guidance of Sri S.K.Panda, DDG & SIO.

Sri Rakesh Vardhan ,TD and National project coordinator (Hortnet),NIC Hqrs, New Delhi, imparted the training. The participants include district level functionaries of SHM, Dy. Directors and officers of NHM Directorate and DIOs of NIC, Odisha

The training programme began with the welcome address by Sri R. Sahu, Technical Director and NHM Coordinator followed by inaugural address  by Director, Horticulture.

Director in his speech stressed that proper training and practice session is the key factor to build confidence and implement the entire workflow application of Hortnet successfully.  He emphasized the need for overcoming mental block to use the available technology for streamlining the NHM activities through workflow based MIS which will strengthen the functioning of the system

The presentation of web-based Hortnet Application was carried out by Sri Rakesh Vardhan. He explained various modules like Farmer Registration, different horticulture schemes, Application status, updation of master databases etc. He also explained the features of progress monitoring module available in the software. The customisation of software for state specific requirement was also discussed during the training.

 The Practice session was conducted by Sri P. K. Mishra (SSA) and Sri A. K. Behera(SSA).

At the end of the session, feedback was collected from participants  and their queries were answered by Sri Vardhan and the training programme  was concluded with the vote of thanks.
