National Generic Document Registration System of NIC launched for Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir
National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) is a cloud-based application developed by NIC for registering land documents digitally. The launch of NGDRS for the Government of Jammu and Kashmir was held on 15th June 2020.
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Shri K K Sharma, launched the National Generic Document Registration System (NGDRS) through NIC Video Conferencing in the presence of Dr. Neeta Verma, Director General, NIC, Financial Commissioner, Revenue Department, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary, Information Technical Department, Shri Bipul Pathak, Joint Secretary (LR) DoLR, MoRD, Shri H S Meena along with other senior officers from Jammu and Kashmir Government and NIC.
Shri K K Sharma said that generic customizable software when universally adopted in the country will enable anywhere access to data and information to both the common man and the enforcement and regulatory agencies. He added that transparency will be promoted due to registration through digital means and people will get the benefits in a hassle-free manner.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal said that this event signifies a remarkable transition from a manual system of carrying out the Process of Registration to a Computerized System of Registration.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to adopt NGDRS for roll out across the UT in 20 Registrar Officer (RO) and 77 Sub Registrar Officer (SRO) sites spread over 20 districts.
