e-Checkpost is a web based portal where the vehicle owners of other states can pay the border tax before entering into Odisha. In Odisha, border check gates have been abolished, so the vehicle owners of other state intent to enter into Odisha were facing problem in paying the border tax and getting permits. They had to come to any nearest Regional Transport Office for this. NIC has developed a common web application (https://parivahan.gov.in), to pay the other state tax and to get the permit. The rate of tax applicable for Odisha state has been incorporated, so that the vehicle owners coming to Odisha can log on to the e-Checkpost portal before the entry and deposit the taxes through online payment facilities. The permit is issued instantly and the vehicle owner can download and print the permit and money receipt. This system will save them the trouble of physically coming to the RTO office.

The e-Checkpost system has been introduced under the 5T policy of the State Government to improve the ease of getting the permit for outside state vehicles.

The e-Chekpost portal was inaugurated by Sri Padmanabha Behera, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Transport of Odisha on 19th Jan 2020. Dignitaries present on the occasion include Sri Ananta Narayan Jena, MLA, Bhubaneswar Central, Sri Susant Kumar Rout, MLA, Bhubaneswar North, Sri Sanjeeb Panda, IPS, Transport Commissioner, Sri Amitendra Nath Sinha, IPS IG of Crime Branch.

Sri B. K. Panda, Sr. Technical Director and Sri Prasant Kumar Nayak, Technical Director, NIC, Odisha, coordinated the programme under the guidance of Smt. Pratibha Singh, DDG & SIO, Odisha.
