His Excellency Acharya Devrat, the Hon’ble Governor of Himachal Pradesh honoured five officers of NIC Himachal Pradesh on 30th September 2017 in the International Dasehra Festival at Kullu for their contribution in developing the Online Rohtang Pass Permits software which has been implemented for the last two years now.

Sh.  Yunus, Deputy Commissioner, Kullu, Sh. Rajesh Sharma, Secretary to Hon'ble Governor and other senior officers were present during the  occasion.

The NIC officers felicitated on the occasion are, Sh. Ajay Singh Chahal, SIO, Sh. Lalit Kapoor, ASIO, Sh. Brijender Kumar Dogra, DIO Kullu, Sh. Rajiv Kumar, ADIO, Kullu and Sh. Ashish Sharma, Scientist-B. They were presented with Kullu cap, Shawl and a Momento of the Kullu Dasehra Festival.

The Online Rohtang Pass permits software was developed by NIC HP, two years back, on the directions of the National Green Tribunal to restrict the number of vehicles visiting the famous international pass of Rohtang in Kullu District. The objective is to preserve the environment by restricting vehicle movement in the fragile ecological area. To facilitate the tourists and taxi operators, the online system enables them to pay all fees online and get the permit online only.

Over the year, enhancements have been carried out in the software to enable payment of multiple fees online along with the Rohtang permit and also to allot specific tourist permits to personal vehicles of tourists on one time basis during the year. The software has inbuilt logics to grant permits, as per directions issued by the NGT from time to time based on feedback received from users.
