Inauguration of e-Library at Odisha State Archieves
The State Archives, Bhubaneswar, Odisha launched e-library system of NIC on 9th June 2017 on the occasion of the International Archives Day.
Inaugurating e-Library system Sri Ashok Chandra Panda, Honorable Minister for Culture and Tourism, Odisha informed that the books that are in the library of the archives have been catalogued for easy access to users. Previously, the users were physically searching books from a huge number of books and old records, but now it will be a thing of the past. Users have to just type in the keywords and they can get information about the books in which the related information is available.
Dr. Bhagyalipi Malla, superintendent in charge of the archives, added that NIC Odisha State Centre has taken initiation to automate Odisha State Archive library using e-Granthalaya software and more than 30000 rare documents and books of British period would be made public and available to research scholars.
Sri Samarendra Dash, Scientist-D, presented different features of the e-Library to the august gathering.
Dignitaries present on the occasion include Sri R. Balakrishnan, IAS, Development Commissioner-cum- Additional Chief Secretary, Odisha, Sri Manoranjan Panigrahy, IRS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Culture Department and Sri Amarendra Kumar Patnaik, Director of Culture etc.
