Sh. Virbhadra Singh, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh launched the eGovernance Pilot Project of the HP State Public Service Commission on 10th April 2017 at Shimla. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon'ble Chief Minister expressed the hope that the project will benefit the youth of the State by bringing more transparency and online services while applying for Government jobs.

Sh. K.S. Tomar, Chairman of the HP State Public Service Commission, informed that the eGovernance Project will first be implemented in the HP State Public Service Commission and then replicated in other Commissions of the country. With 90% of the population of the State living in rural areas, the exhaustive web-based services planned for the aspiring candidates will boost availability of employment opportunities to the educated unemployed youth of Himachal Pradesh.

A number of dignitaries were present on the inaugural function, including the Chairpersons of the Punjab and Uttrakhand States, Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh, Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of HP University, former chairpersons of the State Commission, Member of the Commission, DGP Home Guards, Chairperson and Members of the HP Subordinate Staff Selection Commission.

The objective of the project is to provide integrated online services for all functions of the Commission, which include departmental promotion committees, advice on service matters, recruitment and promotion rules, conducting examinations, inviting applications, publishing of answer keys, results, rolls numbers, interview dates etc.

The project has been approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, under the Good Governance and Best Practices. The project proposal, costing Rs. 5.24 Crore has been prepared been NIC Himachal Pradesh State Centre for execution through the NICSI. Sh. Vinay Thakur, Director eGovernance, MeitY and Sh. Manoj Kumar Mishra, Managing Director, NICSI were honoured by the Chairman of the HP Public Service Commission. The Director General, NIC was represented by the SIO, NIC HP.
