Launch of HPSDMA website by Honorable Chief Minister, HP on World Disaster Reduction Day

The Honorable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, launched the official website of the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, HPSDMA at Shimla on 13th October, 2011. The day is being celebrated as World Disaster Reduction Day too. While launching the website, the Honorable Chief Minister stressed on the need to provide content to general public in easy, simple and large fonts for easy readability. The website is quite informative and helpful for citizens, Government officials and NGOs.

Sh. D. C. Rana, Project Director, HP State Disaster Management Authority explained the various features of the website which focuses on providing all relevant information about various kinds of disasters and how to reduce the risks during disasters. The website has a section for citizens where they can learn about safe designs of houses, safety tips during earthquakes, floods, land slides, FAQs etc. The Resources section is enriched by information related to helipads, lists of officials trained in rescue operations during disasters, emergency operation centres and telephone numbers of resource persons.

Sh. Sunil Kumar, State Informatics Officer, NIC Himachal Pradesh, Sh. O.C. Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Dr. R.K. Sood, Advisor cum Consul and other officers of the Administration were present during the launch function.

The Project Director, who has developed most of the content for the website, has been instrumental in getting the website developed through DOEACC Study Centre, Shimla with guidance from NIC Himachal Pradesh State Centre, Shimla.
