A workshop on e-Governance & Project Management was conducted on 26th November 2013 by Department of Information Technology, Government of Madhya Pradesh at  RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration, Bhopal. The workshop was chaired by Shri Anthony JC DeSa, Chief Secretary, Government of Madhya Pradesh and was attended by senior functionaries of State Government (including, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Commissioners, etc.), besides senior officers from NIC & Project Management Institute, INDIA. The  workshop was organized to discuss and finalize various policies related to State Data Sharing & Accessibility Policy (SDSAP), e-Mail Policy, Policy on Acceptable Use of IT Resources, Policy on use of Wi-Fi in Mantralaya, etc.

 Chief Secretary inaugurated the workshop and actively participated in all the sessions of the workshop. On the occasion, important suggestions were sought in connection of framing State Policy on use of IT by different Departments, Exchange of data & access. Stressing the need for increase use of IT in official work, the Chief Secretary hailed the work done so far. He apprised himself of the efforts for promoting IT by Departments.

 Presentation on NDSAP (National Data Sharing & Accessibility Policy) was made by Ms. Neeta Verma, DDG, NIC. She focused her presentation on strategy & potential impact of the policy and also the road map for implementation of the NDSAP & Open Government Data in the State. The policy opens possibility of tapping untapped potential of Government Data, collected using Tax Payers money. NIC being technology provider for the implementation of NDSAP & Open Government Data in the State, NIC will be providing required technical support to NDSAP-PMU in implementation of the policy in the State, she assured. She also emphasized that opening up of data will encourage IT professionals to provide Apps on Mobile devices, which will be easily used by citizens.

 Ms. Seema Khanna, TD gave a presentation on e-Mail Policy & Acceptable use of IT Resources Policy, besides features of e-Mail Services of NIC. She informed that presently there are more than 4.5 Lacs e-Mail users with about 640 Virtual Domains. The e-Mail Services are being operational from state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure of NIC, which is scalable as per the need. NIC can provide e-Mail account to all the State Government Employees as per NIC Policy. She informed the audience that state-of-the-art infrastructure is being put in place to improve the features, service & support.

 Policy on use of Wi-Fi in Mantralaya was presented by Shri Mayank Nagar, TD. A brief presentation about the Wi-Fi technology, its Architecture in NICNET Domain, various Security features along with Wi-Fi access policy etc., were also delivered by him. NIC already deployed Wi-Fi Access Points in Mantralaya (Secretariat) to connect Laptop, Smart Phone,  iPad, iPhone, etc., to wired LAN through Wi-Fi. Initially access to Wi-Fi has been provided to Mantralaya Officers having NIC LDAP account (NIC e-Mail-ID), besides, creation of a separate SSID i.e. VAYU13 for Mantralaya.

 Presentation on eTaal Portal was delivered by Shri I.P.S. Sethi, Sr. TD. The portal consumes e-Transactions of various online services (being provided by Government Agencies throughout the country) through Web-Services or XML Feed and display live transactions on Display Board of the Portal, as per categories defined by Government of INDIA. Madhya Pradesh is one of the leading States, in reporting e-Transactions (pertaining to various online Services being provided by State Government through various Service Portals) on eTaal Portal.

 Presentation on Project Management was made by Mr. Raj Kalady, MD, PMI INDIA. Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (IT), Government of Madhya Pradesh invited detailed suggestions on various policies by all the participants.

Mani, Ms. Shalini Mathrani, Sr.TD, Sr. TD NIC, Shri Prakash Rao, Sr. TD, Shri Sanjay Hardikar, Sr. TD, etc.

 IT Secretary appreciated the efforts & support of NIC in e-Governance Projects as well as in the success of the workshop for covering important areas for the benefit of the State.
