House Allotment Information Kiosk inaugurated by the Administrator, UT Chandigarh

In a move to enhance accessibility of the information pertaining to government accommodation in Chandigarh, Sh. Shivraj V. Patil, Hon’ble Administrator, UT Chandigarh launched the House Allotment Committee Information Kiosk at a function organized at Punjab Raj Bhavan on 13th June 2013.  The information kiosk, which is first of its kind, is an initiative of House Allotment Committee, Department of IT in collaboration with NIC. 

Data of over 13500 government houses in various categories in Chandigarh pertaining to the employees of Chandigarh Administration, Punjab and Haryana Governments and the Punjab and Haryana High Court would be available on the kiosk. 

The application has been developed by NIC and provides real-time information regarding the Seniority list, vacancy position and allotments of government houses. The application has integrated the workflows of House Allotment Committee with Engineering Department and Rent Controller Office and is also linked with SMS Gateway. The touch-sensitive information kiosk works as an extension of the web based system so that the employees who do not have Internet access can get the desired information. The kiosk also enables the users to run a name based search for fetching information pertaining to them.
 This kiosk would be placed at the Estate Office in Sector 17 and the employees would be able to access the information at their convenience. 

The Administrator lauded the efforts and suggested to have more such kiosks for the convenience of public at the places frequented by them. Also present at the launch were Sh.P.K.Chaudhery, IAS, Chief Secretary, Haryana, Sh. Rakesh Singh, IAS, Chief Secretary Punjab, Sh. K.K.Sharma, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh.M.P.Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary to Governor Punjab, Ms. Prerna Puri, IAS, Secretary House Allotment Committee, Sh.Sumeet Malhotra, OSD Vigilance, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Sh. Rahul Gupta, PCS, Assistant Estate Officer and other officers.

The application has been developed by Mr Rajneesh Verma, DIO Chandigarh and Mr Noor Singh Saini, Scientific Officer, NIC UT and is second such initiative by NIC Chandigarh, the earlier being the Touch screen based information  kiosk at Registering & Licensing Office to know the number availability and which has been in great use.
