The website of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (South) office was formally inaugurated and launched by Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, Mr. Brijendra Singh on 06-11-09. SDM(S), Ms. Prerna Puri said that the website which can be viewed at http://chdsdmsouth.gov.in has been designed and developed by the Chandigarh NIC Unit. She further said that the website has been developed with a view to provide information in the public domain to ensure better dissemination of information and greater accessibility. The Deputy Commissioner in his address stressed the need for continually updating the website and making it more user-friendly as the awareness level of the city s residents is very high. Ms. Puri in her address highlighted the key features of the website. The website gives elaborate and comprehensive details of the services provided by the SDM office including registration of new vehicles, issuance of certificates for scheduled castes, other backward castes, income certificate, residence certificate, late registration of births and deaths, sound permissions, title approval and the countersignatures on documents. For the convenience of the public, the facility of downloading online application forms has been provided. The website incorporates the RTI annexure and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) providing answers to some of the common queries of the people. The website has a sound permission module wherein the applicants applying for sound permission can check the status of their applications online. The court cases monitoring system would enable the respondents in cases under preventive sections of Cr.P.C. to check the status of their case and the next date of hearing online. The inauguration was attended by Controller Printing and Stationery, Mr. Abhishek Dev, Asst Commissioner, Mr. Ashok Kumar, SIO, NIC, Sh Ajay Rampal and other officials of the NIC and staff of the SDM office.
