A three-day state level workshop was organized on e-procurement application at Punjab Engineering College Chandigarh on 7th, 8th and 9th December 2009 by Punjab Roads and Bridges Development Board (PRBDB) with the support of NIC HQs and NIC Punjab.
The workshop was inaugurated by Sh.Kulbir Singh, IAS Secretary (PWD) Govt of Punjab, Dr.Manoj Dutta, Director PEC, Sh. M. S. Nijjar, Joint Secretary PRBDB, Sh Navneet Kukreja, SIO Punjab. Senior faculty members from PEC and all prominent officers of PRBDB were present during the inauguration ceremony. Secretary (PWD) emphasized on urgent need for electronic tendering process and appeal for speedier implementation of GePNIC in PRBDB while reviewing the steps taken till date to initiate the project.

The objective of the workshop was to train senior officers and the contractors/prospective bidders to build ground preparedness for the implementation of GePNIC . The opening and last day of the workshop were devoted to two different batches of PRBDB officers. Participants of the rank of Chief Engineers and Executive engineers from all over Punjab participated in the workshop. The entire process flow from bid creation, corrigendum creation, bid publishing, bid submission, bid opening was demonstrated on live demo website in detail. The session on second day was especially scheduled for contractors/ prospective bidders. This session was focused on bidders role, enrollment, bid submission and security features with an objective to build confidence among the Bidders. The participants practiced all the functionalities of GePNIC in hands-on sessions. The queries of the participants were also taken up in different sessions by the faculty.

Shri Ganesh Kadanga, PSA and Smt Usha Saxena, PSA from NIC HQs conducted the workshop and was actively supported by Sh.Vikram Jeet Grover TD, Sh Anoop Jalali, PSA & Sh.T.S. Ramesh Scientific Officer from NIC Punjab.
