Dr. Neeta Verma, Director General, NIC

In an insightful interview with Express Computer, Dr. Neeta Verma, Director General, NIC answers with great panache.

Speaking about providing technology solutions to support government initiatives, DG highlighted NIC’s engagement in executing some of the key IT projects and establishing a nationwide state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure for governance. She apprised of the large Data Centres and Mini Data Centres established by NIC to meet eGovernance requirements effectively. It is worthwhile to mention, NIC’s data centres and cloud services have played an instrumental role by supporting over 10,000 eGovernance projects.

On being asked about NIC’s role in the employment of new technologies, Dr. Neeta Verma gave a comprehensive view on how NIC has been embracing new technologies like Cloud, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain etc., to enhance services and has also set up a Computer Emergency Response Team to combat cybersecurity incidents. The conversation also brought to the fore the way NIC has been dedicatedly working to introduce citizen-centric services in rural areas of the country.
