Donors eagerly waiting for their term

There is no gift, more precious than life. And Blood, runs through the very veins of this gift. Also there is no substitute of this gift, the lifeline of human existence. NIC Orissa State Unit in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, organized the voluntary Blood Donation Camp in memory of Late Soumya Subham Sahoo, son of Shri Bhimsen Sahoo, Scientist D, who merged with divinity recently. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Mangala Prasad Mohanty, Honorary Secretary, Red Cross in presence of Shri S K Panda, SIO and Sr. Technical Director, NIC, Orissa, Shri Madhusudan Rao, Jt. Secretary, Red Cross, Dr. Debasis Mishra, Blood Bank Officer, Capital Hospital, Shri Pradipta Kumar Tripathy, Consultant, Voluntary Blood Donation, OSACS, Govt. of Orissa. A good number of Officers and friends participated enthusiastically to share liquid love for the noble cause. Out of 57 registered donors, Forty four units of blood were collected and other 13 donors were deferred due to various medical reasons. To make this camp a success, one awareness programme was conducted two days before where Shri Pradipta Kumar Tripathy, Consultant, Voluntary Blood Donation, OSACS, Govt. of Orissa addressed the officers on Blood Science and need for voluntary blood donation. He clarified various doubts and confusions of the participants. In the concluding session of the camp, two minutes silent prayer was observed to pray for the soul of Soumya to rest in peace. SIO distributed the donor certificates and donor cards. He encouraged all to understand the mortality of life and share love as much as possible through thought, word and deed. It was resolved to conduct such activities which creates atmosphere of loving unity among one and all, atleast once in a year.
