Odisha became first state in Eastern Region of India to launch all district portals powered by S3waaS (http://oddistricts.nic.in)
On 28th May 2018, Shri Chandra Sarathi Behera, Honourable Minister of Electronics & IT, Govt. of Odisha launched the Secure, Scalable and Sugamya bilingual district portals of Odisha in the august presence of Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister, Electronics & IT, Law & Justice, Sri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Smt. Neeta Verma, DG, NIC, Smt. Pratibha Singh, SIO, Odisha.
Addressing on the occasion Shri A. K. K. Meena, Principal Secretary to Govt., Electronics & IT department informed that Odisha began its migration journey in April 2018 with Cuttack becoming the first district to migrate to S3WaaS followed by Bhadrak district. Electronics & IT department, Government of Odisha has given instructions to all District Collectors to formulate the district portal team under the Chairmanship of the Collector. The district portal team should meet every month and provide the content to NIC District Centre for necessary updation of the portal both in Odia and English.
Accordingly Collectors of all districts extended necessary support for providing the updated content both in English and Odia. The concerted efforts by all District Informatics Officers, District Administration and NIC Odisha and SwaaS team, Delhi resulted in ensuring migration of 30 Districts in record time.
In his inaugural address, Honourable Minister said, “The initiative of SwaaS is also in the line of the ‘Odisha Official Language (Amendment) Bill, 2018’ emphasizing on extensive use of Odia by State government officials in official communication. We feel proud that National Informatics Centre took up the initiative to develop the portals of districts making it accessible and Odia language enabled using SwaaS platform.”
Head SwaaS team Smt. Alka Mishra, STD, NIC- Delhi, State coordinators for the project Shri R. P. Dash, DIO Sambalpur, Shri S. K. Mandal, ADIO, Ganjam and DIO / ADIO from Cuttack, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Khurda, Koraput, Nuapada, Rayagada etc. districts graced the occasion.
The portals highlight tourist places of the district, culture & heritage, Citizen Services, Directory etc. which would certainly be useful for the citizen and tourists. Portals have been linked to Social media sites of the Collector.
