Honorable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the "Viswa Gram" project at TIMBI Gram Panchayat of UMARALA Taluka of BHAVNAGAR District on 18th January 2004.

Power & Petro Chemical Minister Shri Saurabh Patel, Member of Parliament, all M.L.A.s of Bhavnagar District, District Officials, Shri Rajanish Mahajan SIO & Technical Director of N.I.C. and Shri D.K.Jhala, Technical Director of N.I.C were present.

The Viswa Gram project module "e-Gram Panchayat Monitoring System" is for maintaining record of village information of all families’ data and issue of necessary certificates to citizens. This module is designed & developed by National Informatics Centre.

In 32 villages of Bhavnagar District, the Viswa Gram project is implemented and for another 10 village panchayats Hon. Chief Minister distributed the hardware.

The Viswa Gram is based on survey form of each individual family of the village, which contains the detailed information of each member of family. This is used to provide many certificates such as Income, Caste, Domicile, Character, and Farmer etc. to citizens. Also, the database of property of each family is maintained to provide necessary certificate and to use in panchayat tax collection property wise. Birth, Death & BPL Beneficiaries data is also maintained to provide respective certificates.

District Development Officer, District Panchayat, Bhavnagar conducted seminar for all Talaties and Sarpanchs of Bhavnagar to familiarise them with e-Governance, Viswa Gram Project & LRC Project at Taluka & Gram Panchayat Level.

In future this databank can be used for different analysis and to generate different reports such as Birth & Death Rate, Vaccination Detail List, Schooling Candidates List, Senior Citizens List, Voter List etc. General information of the village is also provided for information as and when required.
